Realtors® Affecting a Better Quality of Life in the Region

The Housing Opportunity Foundation is excited to be returning to McAlpine Park on June 22rd to host our fourth annual Strides for Shelter event. Proceeds from the race this year will benefit The Relatives. The Relatives has grown from a small crisis shelter housing 9 youth (44 years ago) to a vital community resource providing a full continuum of services for at -risk and homeless youth, serving over 5,000 youth, young adults, and families each year. The funds raised from the 2019 Strides for Shelter will be used to purchase a much-needed van for the youth crisis center, to replace the existing one which currently has over 100,000 miles and has required multiple repairs in the last year.

The availability of affordable and sustainable housing has a direct impact on a community. The Charlotte Regional Realtor® Association’s Housing Opportunity Foundation strives to affect a better quality of life in the Charlotte region by promoting affordable home ownership, providing funding to create housing opportunities, and positioning and educating Realtors® as volunteer leaders in support of philanthropic activities.

The foundation is a non-profit umbrella organization for the association’s focus on affordable workforce housing.
